This policy applies to all purchases made through:
- The Modern Room (furniture, décor, home design products & services)
- The Modern Heiress (planners, journals, self-care, lifestyle, and wellness products)
- The Modern Scent (artisan detox bath essentials, and related products)
Return Eligibility
To be eligible for a return:
- Return requests must be submitted within 15–30 days of delivery, depending on the product and supplier
- Items must be unused, undamaged, and returned in original packaging
- Proof of purchase is required
Non-Returnable Items
The following items are final sale and not eligible for return or refund:
- Custom or made-to-order items
- Clearance or final sale items
- Digital products (including downloadable planners, journals, PDFs, or digital books)
- Gift cards
- Opened or used self-care, wellness, or personal care items
How to Start a Return
To request a return, please email themodernroomdecor@gmail.com and include:
- Your order number
- The brand name (Modern Room, Modern Heiress, or Modern Scent)
- The reason for the return
- Photos (required for damaged, defective, or incorrect items)
Once your request is received, we will contact the applicable supplier or fulfillment partner to review and authorize the return.
- If approved: You will receive a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA), return instructions, and the shipping address
- If denied: You will be notified with a clear explanation
Return Shipping & Fees
- Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer, unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect
- A restocking fee of 10–30% may apply depending on the product and supplier
- Items must be packaged securely to prevent damage during transit
- Shipping fees are non-refundable
Damaged or Incorrect Items
Please inspect your order immediately upon delivery.
- Damage or incorrect item claims must be reported within 3–5 days of delivery
- Include clear photos of:
- The damaged item
- The packaging
- The shipping label (if applicable)
We will work with the supplier to offer a replacement, repair, or refund, depending on the situation and product availability.
Refund Process
- Refunds are processed after the returned item is received and inspected
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method
- Please allow 5–10 business days for your bank or payment provider to reflect the refund
- If a restocking fee applies, it will be deducted from your refund amount
Exchanges
At this time, we do not offer direct exchanges. If eligible, you may return an item for a refund and place a new order.
